Classwork: “5 Ways to Organize Your Essay” handout, “Some Different Types of Essay Leads” handout, practice organizing your essay (choose a topic, generate ideas, then organize the ideas).

Homework: Study for Vocab test, finish organization for your essay, and write a leading paragraph. Final definition paragraph due on Tuesday. Extra Credit Vocab definitions for list B due on Tuesday.

TO DO:

- keep the same font style throughout

- keep your resume one page long

- Start with your contact information at the top

- Display your education with school, expected graduation date, and GPA (only if it’s above a 3.0)

- List your work experience in order of importance, include title, company, city and state, and dates of employment. Also include a description of your duties. Be sure not to understate:

understated seen through professional eyes
answered phone acted as liaison between clients and legal staff
performed various tasks developed awareness of library operational procedures
wiped tables created healthy environment for customers and maintained positive public image

- If you’ve volunteered on more than one occasion, you may choose to create a sub-section for volunteer work.

- In a separate section, list your honors and activities (awards, scholarships, club memberships, officer positions)

- Do you have specific skills in computers, technology, or other job-specific activities? You may include a section at the bottom of your resume listing these skills. For a theatrical resume, you’ll include as many as you can think of!

Journal: prepare to turn in journals

Graded Assignments due: “Storm” by Kate Chopin read for today.

Classwork: Questions on “Storm.” Socratic Seminar on “Storm” with symbols and statements. Finished taking notes on Feminism throughout the years. Began completing study guide. Listened to songs from the 1960s and 70s.

Homework: Read “I Was a Playboy Bunny” by Gloria Steinem. Follow the directions and answer the questions on the front page. Quiz on Tuesday. Also, search for songs, artwork, personal interviews, movies, and TV Shows that display society’s view of women today. Prepare for a presentation due on Thursday.

Journal: Recall a time when you had to meet a certain expectation. Did you meet it? How did you feel?

Graded Assignments due: Satirical essay based upon Syfers’ “I Want a Wife”

Classwork Completed in class: Read “How the Superwoman Myth Puts Women Down” by Sylvia Rabiner. Answered questions 1.a-c and 2.a-e. Studied the Feminism packet as a class and took notes on the time line of women’s rights movement. Began Study Guide Handout.

Homework: Read “Storm” by Kate Chopin (in Great Short Stories by American Women. Record the Symbols you see. What do the ordinary events/tasks/objects symbolize?
