Classwork: Response Log 4 #1-6. Essay Planning: writing the thesis. We listened to the Daddy poem by Sylvia Plath.

Homework: Analyze Daddy by Sylvia Plath (answer the questions on the poem, write the images you see, make connections/allusions). Finish Response Log 4 #1-6. Begin Rough Draft (due on Monday, Final Draft due on Wed. Nov. 7).

Speech team practices are mandatory this week.  Come to room 118 at 2:45 and experience true speech team life with Butler University Speech Team Members.

Journal: Find a few “I am” statements in Catcher.  Are these accurate descriptions of Holden?

Graded Assignments due: 4-3-2-1 (write a sentence for 4 vocab words, find synonyms for 3 vocab words, find antonyms for 2 vocab words, and draw a cartoon for another word.  you’ll use 10 words out of the list of 15.)   Your questions for Catcher are due today as well.  Make sure you have up to the last page.

Classwork: Hamburger essays (how to write an effective essay).  Rebel Without a Cause movie time.

Homework: Finish the novel.  Finish the questions.

Classwork: We listened to the song LEFT BEHIND from Spring Awakening. The imagery connects to The Bell Jar. We also created visuals of our own bell jars: What confines us today?

Homework: Read chapters 14-16. Prepare for Socratic Seminar on the following debates: The crawl space is a womb and not a tomb. The electricity purifies. The suburban cage defines and consigns Esther’s problems.
